STOCKTON — Attendance for the 29th annual Asparagus Festival, held April 25-27, was 55,025, down even from last year’s disappointing numbers.
A thunderstorm shut down the festival early on Friday, but the rest of the weekend produced festival-friendly weather.
Organizers were hoping attendance would bounce back from the 25 percent drop last year when 75,237 came and $63,550 was raised for more than 100 nonprofit organizations.
Here are some figures Executive Director Kate Post was able to give us:
29,000 orders of deep fried asparagus
3,450 beef and asparagus sandwiches
2,200 asparagus burritos
3,500 orders of asparagus pasta
7,000 ice cream orders
